Churchill Downs’ Trackside at Churchill Downs off-track betting closed early on Friday, March 2 in anticipation of a dangerous outbreak of severe weather forecast for Kentucky and Southern Indiana later in the afternoon.
Trackside, located in the Churchill Downs clubhouse, was closed at 1:30 p.m. (all times Eastern). All patrons at Trackside at the time of closing were given rain-checks for free admission at a later date.
Off-track wagering at Trackside at Churchill Downs is scheduled to resume on Saturday, March 3. Admission gates will open at 11:30 a.m.
In addition, the offices of both Churchill Downs Racetrack and Churchill Downs Incorporated, both located at 700 Central Avenue, were closed at 1:30 p.m. to allow employees to return to their homes before the arrival of the storms.
Due to the impending dangerous storm, Turfway Park has also cancelled live racing for Friday, March 2. Additionally, the simulcast facility will be closed effective 3:30 p.m.
