Holy Bull Stakes winner Dialed In entered this Sunday

Trainer Nick Zito appears to have finally found an elusive next race for Dialed In. The winner of the Grade III Holy Bull Stakes was among five horses entered in a 1 1/8-miles allowance race at Gulfstream Park this Sunday.

Zito had been struggling in recent weeks to find the right spot in which to prep Dialed In for an expected run in the Grade I Florida Derby on April 3. Though Zito considered running the son of Mineshaft against 2-year-old champion Uncle Mo in the Timely Writer Stakes at Gulfstream next Saturday, the Hall of Fame conditioning didn’t like that race’s one mile distance.

Zito did not rule out training Dialed In up to the Florida Derby. However, that would have meant the colt would only have three career starts to his credit going into the Kentucky Derby.

In order to help ensure that Sunday’s race would be carded, Zito also entered Thoroughbreds Legends Racing Stable’s 4-year-old Equestrio, a son of Elusive Quality that won an ‘a other than’ allowance at Gulfstream earlier in the meet.

Saturday’s Gulfstream Park allowance race is open to 3-year-olds and upwards. Three 4-year-old horses are entered in the race, including stakes winner William’s Kitten, who ran second to eventual Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver in the 2009 Grade II Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes.
