‘Typhoon’ continues to roll at Churchill

One can bet you can count owner and breeder Elaine Jones among those who are a little sad to see the current Churchill Downs meet come to an end today. Jones’ 3-year-old colt Guam Typhoon just captured the fifth race here today, earning his third win in as many starts during this Churchill spring meet.
Guam Typhoon, a son of Distorted Humor, broke his maiden here on May 10, returned to win an allowance race on June 12 and gutted past Godolphin Gray in deep stretch today to take the six-furlong allowance race.
Bred in Kentucky by Domino Stud, Guam Typhoo is out of the Last Tycoon mare La Cucina and is a half brother to multiple graded stakes winner Miss Isella. Apparently, an affinity for Churchill Downs runs in the family as Miss Isella - who is also owned by Elaine Jones - captured the Grade II Louisville Distaff and Grade II Fleur de Lis Handicap this meet.
